On July 17, 2011, at approximately 12:00am, the Juneau Police Department received a report from members of the Juneau Citizen?s Patrol that the Dzantiki Heeni Middle School had sustained a large amount of vandalism in the form of graffiti and that there was a young man leaving the area. Officers contacted the young man, a 17 year old Juneau resident, and subsequently arrested him on an unrelated arrest warrant.
The follow-up investigation conducted by JPD Detectives revealed that the 17 year old, along with a 19 year old Juneau resident, was responsible for the vandalism at several locations in the Lemon Creek area. As a result officers recommended charges of Criminal Mischief in the 4th degree for the 17 year old. Charges of criminal mischief in the 4th degree and criminal mischief in the 3rd degree were recommended for the 19 year old.
The graffiti vandalism resulted in approximately $1,120.00 in damage to the school and nearby buildings.
The investigation is on going.
