On May 21, 2011 at approximately 10:00am the Juneau Police Department received a report of merchandise totaling about $6,000 stolen from a business in the 100 block of South Franklin Street. The caller reported that the business may have been left unlocked during the night when the thefts occurred.
On the morning of May 22, 2011, officers received a report that 49 year old Juneau resident Raymund SEIFERT had merchandise matching that which was reported stolen. At about 11:45am police located SEIFERT driving a vehicle towards the downtown area on Egan Dr. SEIFERT was stopped and it was discovered that the vehicle he was driving was stolen. He was also found to have some of the stolen merchandise in his possession.
Officers arrested SEIFERT and charged him with Motor Vehicle Theft in the 1st degree (a class C felony), Theft in the 2nd degree (a class C felony), and Violating Conditions of Release (a misdemeanor). He was lodged at Lemon Creek Correctional Center.
The investigation is ongoing.
