On May 18, 2010 at about 1813 hours, the Juneau Police Department (JPD) received a report of a single vehicle accident on Glacier Spur Road. The report said that there were injuries.
Capital City Fire and Rescue and Juneau Police Department responded to the area.
Investigation revealed that a grey 2003 Dodge Neon was travelling toward the Glacier at a high rate of speed. The driver, a 39-year-old female local resident, lost control, slid for a distance, left the road, and hit a tree. She was the sole occupant of the vehicle. The driver was transported to Bartlett Regional Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Glacier Spur Road was closed for approximately 1 hour while CCFR and JPD cleared the scene. The driver was given a citation for Driving Without a Valid Drivers License. Alcohol or drug impairment is not a factor. This incident remains under investigation.
