INFORMATION RELEASE

Subject: Motor Vehicle Collision
Date: 2011-01-28
From: Officer Weske
Case or Incident: #110127-021
Summary:

On 1/27/11 at about 10:08 p.m., the Juneau Police Department received a report of a single vehicle collision in the 6400 block of North Douglas Hwy. The caller said that there was a possible power line lying across the road.

Officers responded and found a 2000 Ford F-150 occupied by 22 year old Juneau resident Joshua GRAY on the side of the road. GRAY said he was uninjured during the collision.

The truck had knocked over a pole containing two lines which stretched across both lanes of Douglas Hwy. Both lanes of Douglas Hwy were shut down for about an hour while AEL&P responded and rendered the area safe for traffic.

Investigation revealed that GRAY had lost control while trying to go around a vehicle that had slowed to turn into a driveway. The temperature was about 29 degrees Fahrenheit and road conditions were icy. GRAY was cited for Basic Speed and his vehicle was privately towed from the scene.

The Juneau Police Department would like to remind drivers to use caution while driving as roads can quickly become icy with the current weather conditions.

All factual allegations contained in this release are based upon preliminary investigation and are subject to change or clarification as the investigation continues. Any charges reported in this release are merely accusations and all persons named in this release are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
