On January 24, 2011 the Juneau Police Department Drug Enforcement Unit (JPDDEU) intercepted a suspicious package due for delivery in Juneau.
The South East Alaska Cities Against Drugs (SEACAD) K-9 unit, Justice, was called out and it alerted on the package. A search warrant was obtained and the package was opened. Hidden in the contents of the package was a quantity of OxyContin with a Juneau street value of approximately $95.000.00.
On January 25, 2011 a controlled delivery of the package was conducted with the assistance of SEACAD and the local office of the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI). Three residents of California, one adult male 31 years of age, one adult female 19 years of age, and one infant male were subsequently contacted during the delivery. The infant was turned over to the State Office of Children?s Services and the two adults were detained.
The male, Lorenzo WILLIAMS age 31, and the female Avis BOWDRY age 19 were subsequently arrested, as was local Juneau female resident Tessa COX age 28, on Federal Felony charges of Conspiracy to Distribute and Possess with the Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance. A charge punishable by up to 20 years in jail and One Million Dollars in fines.
Tim BEAGLE age 40 of Juneau was also arrested on an outstanding No Bail Federal Warrant for Felon in possession of a Firearm.
Danny WOODARD age 28 of Juneau was also arrested on an outstanding $500 JPD warrant for an original charge of Disorderly Conduct.
Two vehicles were impounded during the operation, one was returned to its owner, and approximately $6000 in cash was seized.
