Case or Incident: #110125-003
Summary:

This morning, at 5:52am, the Juneau Police Department received a report of an activated burglary alarm at Western Auto and Marine. Within minutes officers arrived on scene and discovered that the building had been entered through a front door.

Officers contacted 27 year old Juneau resident Derik WYTHE inside the store. WYTHE was found to be in possession of firearms that had been taken from a secure display rack in the store. WYTHE was detained and taken to the Juneau Police Department. WYTHE indicated there was another person still inside the store.

Officers set up a perimeter, the building was surrounded, and the Juneau Police Department SWAT Team and Crisis Negotiations Team responded. The building was searched and no other persons were located in the building. Several other businesses within the immediate area were closed until approximately 1:30pm while the SWAT team completed its search.

WYTHE was ultimately arrested for Burglary 2nd Degree, Attempted Theft 2nd Degree, and Criminal Mischief 4th Degree. He was transported to and lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center and held on No Bail.
