Arrest Following Domestic Violence Assault Investigation

On September 6, 2026, at approximately 10:06 a.m., the Juneau Police Department received a report that an adult woman had been assaulted by her boyfriend, 39-year-old Derek Antrim, at a residence in the 11000 block of Glacier Highway.

During the investigation, the woman reported that Antrim retrieved a handgun, struck her several times in the head with it, and forced the barrel of the gun into her mouth. She reported that the assault caused pain, swelling, a facial injury, and damage to one of her teeth. She also told officers that she feared she would be killed during the assault.

On the morning of September 9, 2026, officers located Antrim driving a white BMW on Stephen Richards Drive. Antrim refused to stop at the direction of an officer and fled the area at a high rate of speed. Police later received information from members of Antrim’s family that he was believed to be in possession of an AR-style rifle and had made statements about shooting at police.

Later that day, JPD officers worked with members of Antrim’s family to communicate with him and persuade him to surrender. Antrim subsequently arrived at JPD and surrendered without further incident.

Antrim was lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center on the following charges:

• Two counts of Assault in the Third Degree, each a class C felony
• Assault in the Fourth Degree, a class A misdemeanor

The case remains under investigation.
