Date: 04-09-26
From: Commander Matt DuBois
Case or Incident: #2026-000013
Summary:

On March 27, 2026, the Southeast Alaska Cities Against Drugs (SEACAD) Task Force conducted an operation that resulted in the arrest of two Juneau residents: 50-year-old Jeremiah L. Pond and 40-year-old Whitney Gannon.

Investigators observed Pond operating a vehicle in a dangerous manner in the Mendenhall Valley area. He was driving at a high rate of speed and crossing the centerline. A traffic stop was initiated, and Pond initially stopped the vehicle. Gannon was contacted in the front passenger seat.

While officers were still actively engaged in the traffic stop, Pond fled the scene in the vehicle. He continued to drive recklessly, eventually losing control and striking a guardrail before fleeing the area once again.

Pond and Gannon were later located near Statter Harbor and taken into custody.

Investigators subsequently executed a search warrant at Gannon’s residence in the 11000 block of Mendenhall Loop Road. The following items were seized:

  • $8,091 in cash
  • Approximately 360 grams of fentanyl
  • Approximately 8 grams of methamphetamine

The combined street value of the seized narcotics is estimated at $180,000.

  • Two counts of Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the Second Degree (Class A felonies)
  • Two counts of Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree (Class B felonies)
  • Four counts of Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree (Class C felonies)
