INFORMATION RELEASE

Subject: SEACAD Drug Arrest in Wrangell
Date: 01-08-26
From: Commander Matt DuBois
Case or Incident: #2025-00000052
Summary:

On or about December 5, 2025, information provided by the Wrangell Police Department led to the initiation of a drug distribution investigation by the Southeast Alaska Cities Against Drugs (SEACAD) Task Force.

During the investigation, SEACAD identified a suspicious package destined for Wrangell, Alaska. The package was determined to contain approximately 478 gross grams of methamphetamine.

On December 29, 2025, the package was delivered to Wrangell and subsequently picked up by Steven R. Marshall, a 66-year-old resident of Wrangell. Marshall transported the package to a residence located in the Panhandle Trailer Park, where he was later contacted by SEACAD investigators.

The investigation revealed that Marshall had opened the package inside the residence. During the investigation, SEACAD seized approximately 478 grams of methamphetamine from the package, with an estimated street value of $90,000.

SEACAD was assisted during the investigation by the Wrangell Police Department and the U.S. Forest Service.

Marshall was placed under arrest and transported to the Wrangell Police Department Jail. He was charged with Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, a Class B felony.

SEACAD, Southeast Alaska Cities Against Drugs, is a regional task force comprised of municipal police departments from Juneau, Ketchikan, Sitka, Haines, Skagway, Petersburg, Hoonah, Wrangell, Craig, and Yakutat, the Alaska State Troopers, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Drug Enforcement Administration, United States Postal Inspection Service, and Coast Guard Investigative Service. Together, they work to investigate drug importation and distribution in the Southeast Alaska region
