INFORMATION RELEASE
Date: 10-01-25
From: Deputy Chief Krag Campbell
Case or Incident: #N/A
With cold weather approaching the Juneau Police Department would like to remind the public of a few parking ordinances in preparation for winter road maintenance.
Parking of trailers restricted - CBJ 72.12.035 prohibits the parking of trailers on any street of the City and Borough for longer than one hour at any time. This ordinance applies to trailers, and to boats on trailers.
Presumption of abandonment - CBJ 72.23.010 prohibits vehicles from being left unattended, standing, or parked on a vehicular way in excess of 48 hours, among other provisions.
Vehicles, boats, and trailers, in violation of these ordinances, can present difficulties with road maintenance and snow removal. Some areas within Juneau have limited parking availability, and parking boats and trailers along the roadway takes up necessary parking spaces for people living in those areas.
The Juneau Police Department’s Community Service Unit will be focusing on these types of parking ordinances as winter approaches. If you have a trailer, or boat on a trailer, parked on a CBJ Street, please move it within the next 24 hours.
All factual allegations contained in this release are based upon preliminary investigation and are subject to change or clarification as the investigation continues. Any charges reported in this release are merely accusations and all persons named in this release are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
