On January 1st, 2025, Southeast Cites Against Drugs (SEACAD) Investigators intercepted a suspicious package being shipped to Juneau via the U.S. Postal Service. The package was believed to contain narcotics. During the investigation, SEACAD located items believed to be related to the use and distribution of controlled substances.
On January 3rd, 2025, the package was picked up at the post office. Investigators contacted the recipient at a hotel in the 1200 block of W. 9th Street in Juneau. The recipient was with 36 year-old Braedon Marrs. When contacted, Marrs was holding the package. During the investigation the following were seized:
- Over $2,000 in cash
- About 24 grams of suspected methamphetamines
- About 3 grams of suspected cocaine
- About 54 grams of suspected heroin
- About 102 grams of blue M-30 pills suspected to contain fentanyl
- About 13 grams of suspected fentanyl powder
- About 36 grams of unknown suspected controlled substance
- 2 digital scales commonly used for weighing controlled substances
- Large quantity of “dime bags” commonly used for packaging controlled substances
The estimated street value of the controlled substances was $42,700. Marrs was arrested on the following charges: 3 counts of Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance 2nd degree and 1 count of Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the 3rd degree. He was transported to and lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center and held without bail.
SEACAD, Southeast Alaska Cities Against Drugs, is a regional task force comprised of municipal police departments from Juneau, Ketchikan, Sitka, Haines, Skagway, Petersburg, Hoonah, Wrangell, Craig and Yakutat, the Alaska State Troopers, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Drug Enforcement Administration, United States Postal Inspection Service, and Coast Guard Investigative Service. Together, they work to investigate drug importation and distribution in the Southeast Alaska region.
