On October 3rd, 2024, Investigators with the Southeast Alaska Cities Against Drugs Task Force served search warrants at multiple locations in Juneau in relation to a drug importation and distribution investigation. During the investigation, one person was arrested and the following controlled substances with an estimated street value of $252,695 were seized.
- 1,272 grams of blue fentanyl pills imprinted with “M 30” (approximately 12,160 pills)
- 64 grams of methamphetamine.
- 74 grams of heroin
- 5 grams of powdered fentanyl
Along with the drugs, a vehicle, two firearms, a digital scale and $23,642 in cash were taken during the search warrant services.
Fifty-four year old Juneau resident Dedrick Smith was arrested on three counts of Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance 2nd degree (Possession with Intent to Distribute), one count of Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance 3rd degree (Possession with Intent to Distribute), and one count of Misconduct Involving a Weapon 2nd degree. He was transported to and lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center.
SEACAD, Southeast Alaska Cities Against Drugs, is a regional task force comprised of municipal police departments from Juneau, Ketchikan, Sitka, Haines, Skagway, Petersburg, Hoonah, Wrangell, Craig and Yakutat, the Alaska State Troopers, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Drug Enforcement Administration, United States Postal Inspection Service, and Coast Guard Investigative Service. Together, they work to investigate drug importation and distribution in the Southeast Alaska region.
