On October 11th, 2024, at about 11:41 a.m., JPD officers contacted 41 year old Juneau resident Ryan Jaravata at a private residence on Mendenhall Loop Road. Jaravata was arrested on an outstanding $250 felony warrant charging Criminal Mischief in the 3rd degree in connection to this vandalism investigation. Jaravata was transported to the Lemon Creek Correctional Center.

On October 2nd, 2024, the Juneau Police Department received a report that the Mendenhall Valley Public Library had been vandalized with graffiti. An additional call was received regarding vandalism in Rotary Park.
During the investigation, the officer determined red spray paint had been used to paint swastika symbols in the bathroom of the library, on electrical boxes outside of the library, in Rotary Park on the pavement under a pavilion and on the trail between Rotary Park and Cinema Drive.
