Case or Incident: #2024-08160063, 2024-08180048 & 2024-08180068
On August 20th, 2024 at around 2:00 p.m. Juneau Police Department officers contacted Leona Worman in connection with an investigation into three separate robberies that occurred over the weekend.
JPD Case 2024-08160063 On August 16th at about 8:56 p.m., a female walked into the Safeway Fuel Center on Vintage Boulevard with a knife and demanded the fuel center clerk give her money from the cash register. The female suspect left the area on foot with an undisclosed amount of money. Officers responded within minutes but did not locate the female suspect. The clerk was not injured during the incident.
JPD Case 2024-08180048 On August 18th, at about 4:01 p.m., a female wearing a mask walked into the same Safeway Fuel Center and confronted the fuel station clerk with a knife and demanded money from the cash register. The female suspect left the area with an undisclosed amount of money from the till. Officers responded within minutes, but the female was not located. The clerk was not injured during the incident.
JPD Case 2024-08180068 On August 18th, at about 9:20 p.m., a female matching the description of the suspect from the Safeway robberies entered the Alaska Coffee Pot shop on Dunn St wearing a mask and confronted an employee inside. The female claimed she was armed and demanded money from the cash register and left with an undisclosed amount of money. The female suspect ran away on foot and was not located by responding officers who arrived in the area within minutes. The employee was not injured during the incident.
The JPD investigation revealed that the female suspect of all three robberies was 35-year-old Juneau resident, Leona Worman. Worman was arrested on August 20th, 2024, on the following charges: three counts of Robbery in the 1st degree (class A felonies), one count of Theft in the 2nd Degree (class C felony), one count of Theft in the 3rd degree (class A misdemeanor), and one count of Theft in the 4th degree (class B misdemeanor). She was transported to and lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center and held without bail.
