On 08/04/2024, at approximately 2:25 AM, the Juneau Police Department received a report that a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle, in the 1700 block of the outbound lane of Egan Drive. It was reported that the pedestrian had sustained serious injuries, and the subject vehicle had left the scene after the crash. JPD and CCFR responded to the area to assist.
The pedestrian was identified as a 38-year-old male Juneau resident. He was transported by CCFR to the hospital and later medevacked to Seattle. The family was notified of the incident.
During the investigation of the crash, the outbound lane of Egan Drive was closed for several hours and traffic was diverted onto Glacier Highway.
At approximately 6:55 AM, a 23-year-old male came into the Juneau Police Department and requested to speak with detectives about his involvement in the crash. The vehicle believed to be involved in the collision with the pedestrian was later located at a residence in the 8600 block of Dudley Street. The vehicle is described as a silver 1999 Pontiac Trans AM. The vehicle sustained significant damages to the front passenger side corner panel and windshield.
The 38-year-old pedestrian is currently in critical condition at the Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
This case is still under investigation.
