The City and Borough of Juneau (CBJ) is requesting proposals from qualified consultants to provide design services for the Juneau Police Department Drug Enforcement Addition project.
The Consultant shall provide all necessary design services to prepare complete, bid-ready construction drawings, specifications, bid schedule and engineer’s estimate for construction. The design work shall include design meetings with JPD and CBJ Engineering staff to review design options and prepare 100% Bid Ready construction documents with cost estimates at the 65% and 95% design levels. The owner will provide as-built drawings in AutoCad format for the Consultant’s use, as well as photographs and other documentation if available.
The CBJ may elect to amend the scope of services to include bidding, contract administration and inspection services.
The JPD Drug Enforcement addition will include renovation of approximately 1,000 square feet of existing interior space and a potential 700 square feet of new single story construction. Expansion of office space will include up to ten (10) modular staff workstations, two private offices, conference room with kitchenette and a secure drug storage room. Electrical work consists of light fixtures, new data and electrical outlets, exterior security cameras, IT network integration, door security system, and fire alarm devices. Mechanical work as required for HVAC and heating controls, domestic water and waste line installation at kitchenette. Civil work will include geotechnical study of existing site soil conditions for a possible new slab on grade for new construction.
CBJ expects to bid this project in the Spring of 2023, with construction complete by December, 2023. At this time the approximate Construction budget for this project is $750,000, with possible additional funding as the design progresses and cost information becomes available.
