Chair Yoga - Canceled May 16th
Due to unforeseen circumstances Chair Yoga will be canceled on Thursday, May 16th.

DPAC Hot Tub
The status of the hot tub at Dimond Park Aquatic Center has been irregular and we are actively working on returning it to normal operations. If you are planning to visit the facility for just the hot tub, we encourage you to call ahead to check the status. 907-586-0839

Augustus G. Brown pool is hiring lifeguards, aquatic attendants, and swim instructors in preparation for their anticipated opening in March. Chair Yoga
Chair yoga classes are offered at Dimond Park Aquatic Center on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Classes are from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and general admission rates apply.
Class on May 28 and 30, June 18 and 20, July 9 and 11, and August 6 and 8 will take place at the Field House while the pool hosts summer camp. Field House and Pool Passes are accepted at their respective facilities.
Saturday class at the Field House is on a summer break and will return in the Fall.

Summer Swim Lessons Placement Day | May 11, 14, & 16
Starting this summer, swimmers must meet prerequisites to sign up for classes at Level 2 or higher. That means either:
- Successfully passing the previous class level at Juneau Pools since November 2023, OR
- Attending a Juneau Pools swim lesson placement session
During placement, swim instructors will work with children in small groups to provide coaching and help identify their skill and comfort level in the water. Sign up for free through the Parks and Rec registration catalog (click on the Juneau Pools tab) beginning Friday, May 3 at noon. Placement takes just 15 minutes and several days are available this month:
- Saturday, May 11, 12:30 – 2 p.m. at Augustus Brown Pool
- Tuesday, May 14, 4:15 – 6:15 p.m. at Dimond Park Aquatic Center
- Thursday, May 16, 4:15 – 6:15 p.m. at Dimond Park Aquatic Center
New Diving Club at DPAC
Starting May 14, the pool will offer introductory and advanced classes in springboard diving. Both classes will take place Tuesday and Thursday evenings from May 14 to June 6. The cost is $80 + tax for 8 lessons. Participants must be 8 years of age or older, and 10 spaces are available in each class. Register online through the Parks & Rec registration catalog (click under the Juneau Pools tab) starting Wednesday, May 1 at noon.
Ai Chi Aquatics Fitness Class
Ai Chi is offered at the Dimond Park Aquatic Center every Tuesday & Thursday from 6 - 7 a.m. This aquatic fitness class focuses on breathing with progressive resistance training to relax and strengthen the body. There is no additional fee to participate, the class is included with daily admission.

Recreation Pool Closed During Swim Lessons
Dimond Park Aquatic Center is currently hosting swim lessons. During these lessons the Recreation Pool will be closed to the public. Please consult the up-to-date schedule for dates and times that the Recreation Pool will be unavailable to the general public. If you have further questions please give us a call at 907-586-0839.
Juneau loves its pools!
From the renovation of the Augustus G. Brown Memorial Pool in downtown Juneau to expanded swim lessons and special activities, CBJ Parks & Recreation is working hard to deliver high-quality facilities and services to our community. While demand has always been high for these programs, more people than ever are eager to get back in the water following the COVID-19 pandemic. Here’s an update on what we’re doing to make sure everyone in our community has access to Juneau’s pools and aquatic programs:
- Offering sign-on bonuses of up to $5,000 for difficult-to-fill positions
- Providing free swim passes to every employee in the Aquatics Division
- Offering free lifeguard certification courses to prospective employees
Since 2022, we’ve hired *45 new employees. This includes 9 swim instructors, 27 lifeguards and 14 aquatic attendants. *Several employees work more than one position.
- Replacement of boilers
- Replacement of water and wastewater plumbing
- Replacement of aquatic systems
- Resurfacing the leisure pool
- Replacement and updating of mechanical control systems
- Complete remodeling of locker rooms, including single-user showers and family changing room
- Refreshed sauna
- Remodeled lobby and reception areas
- New interior and exterior paint
- Replaced exterior stairs and sidewalks
- Asbestos abatement
