Not your usual ghost story, "The Little Stranger" is more of a psychological, atmospheric take on the genre. When Dr. Faraday is called to Hundreds Hall, a gothic mansion in the English countryside of postwar Britain, he finds the family struggling and the mansion crumbling. He becomes a close friend of the family and involves himself in the sinister occurrences taking place. But are they real or imagined? Is his involvement sincere or does he have an ulterior motive? In true Henry James fashion we are pulled into the lives and mysteries of the people of Hundreds Hall. Who, or what, is controlling the lives of the Ayres family?
