If you've read 'Wolf Hall' or 'Bring up the Bodies' by Hilary Mantel then you know she can write! But the comparison ends there. This is a totally different novel: quirky, humorous and disturbing. Alison is a psychic who hires Colette as her assistant and companion. But the veil thins constantly for Alison and her two worlds collide causing conflict between the women. Morris is a ghost of a person from Alison's past and ever there in her present. The twining relationship between the women and Alison's effort to live and survive in this world create characters you won't easily forget. Not an easy novel to read but certainly worth the while.
